Jon Stewart Now Officially an Old Fart

Jon Stewart officially entered middle age this week. The momentous occasion happened at the Denver/Boulder Tech gathering at Wolf Law Building on the CU campus Tuesday evening.

Consider the scene: A classroom filled with hundreds of the area’s best and brightest, wizards, moguls and indentured servants, gathered to schmooze and share thoughts about the current state of Front Range High Tech 2009.

The classroom was filled, and there were two large screens down front next to the podium. One screen was devoted to a moving screen of Twitterers’ Tweets about the gathering – the one I noticed at the top was “can someone get me a beer?”

All of a sudden, the other screen began showing a Daily Show segment of Jon Stewart shaking his fist and poking fun at Twitter and its Twitterers from Monday night. “I have no idea how it works or why it is,” he shrugged, arguing with correspondent Samantha Bee over its significance.

Apparently, Twitterers don’t like to be made fun of. A distinct boo ran through the crowd. At that moment, Jon Stewart, once an icon of cool, officially became uncool.
